There is just something about this time of year, when the ghosts of past Autumns and the Autumn to come chase away the dog days of summer, that entices one to read books that fit into the above categories.
It was a desire share the love of eerie, creepy, things-that-go-bump-in-the-night literature that brought me into the online reading challenge game for the first time back in September of 2006. My goals today, in this its third iteration, are no different than the inaugural R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril Challenge:
1. Have fun reading.
2. Share that fun with others.
And so, on to the particulars:
R.I.P. III runs from September 1st through October 31st, 2008. But I’m no stickler, start reading now if you feel so inclined.
This is my favourite time of year for spooky reading so I chose:
Peril the First:
Read Four books of any length, from any subgenre of scary stories that you choose.
My reading pool contains the following books already on my TBRpile:
Dark Delicacies II edited by Jeff Gelb
Halfway To The Grave - Jeaniene Frost
Book Of Lost Things - John Connolly
Demons - John Shirley
Jigsaw Man - Gord Rollo
Academy - Bentley Little

I love this challenge so much because of the fact that so many people post lists of books I have never heard of. I discover so many great authors that way. And you've done it as well. Only one book, Book of Lost Things, I have heard of. I'll be looking forward to your reviews of the rest. I am so glad you are participating!!!
I have to agree with Carl - I'm seeing so many lists with books I've never heard of, and it's a great way to discover new things. Not so great on the bank account or the heaving bookshelves, but still... *grin*
Of your list I've only read The Book of Lost Things, and I adored that one, absolutely brilliant read. Hope you enjoy your challenge reading, look forward to your reviews!
