24 Hour Read-A-Thon Final Update

readathonbutton

Woo hoo I made it! The last few hours I really kicked my butt to get reading. I curled up and determined to allow nothing to interfere. Armed with hot tea and books I managed to finish 2 more books, bringing my grand total to 7. The last few hours have been hard, but I was determined to read it out. Now all I want to do is sleeeeep! Then when I wake up I plan to do some serious blog-hopping to check out how all the others have done. And most importantly to thank all the awesome cheerleaders, hosts and organizers! They did a spectacular job!

End of the Event Meme:

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?

Probably the first couple, I’m not a morning person so it took me awhile to get going.

2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?

The Graveyard Book and The Uglies both held my interest, also I think any collection of short stories would be good for keeping a reader interested.

3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

The only thing that would help me would be a schedule for the mini-challenges, I tried to stay away from the computer as much as possible to improve my reading, so knowing when the mini-challenges start would be helpful.

4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?

The people involved! Everyone that took part whether to read, cheer, host or organize. I think that everyone did fabulously and this was a wonderful community event.

5. How many books did you read?

I ended up reading 7½ books, and I’m totally shocked and happy.

6. What were the names of the books you read?

Amazing Gracie, Arsenic Soup For Lovers, Graveyard Book, Low Man, Roald Dahl’s Book Of Ghost Stories, The Uglies and The Uncommon Reader.

7. Which book did you enjoy most?

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

8. Which did you enjoy least?

The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett

9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?

Nope, I was a reader. But the Cheerleaders were amazing!!

10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?

Very likely, I had a great time and I look forward to the next Read-A-Thon!

Wow, seven books in 24 hours is awesome. I'm really, really impressed with everyone who was able to complete the whole thing. It makes me sort of want to try it next time, but we'll see, cheerleading was fun too :)

Congrats again, and I hope you got some good sleep now that you're done!
