24 Hour Read-A-Thon Update 1

Blaaarrgggh … Have I ever mentioned that I’m not a morning person? Going by the handy dandy timezone thingy GMT is where I would like to live (though I have no idea where this is) 12noonGMT is 9am my time (if I did that right) So with that in mind here are my answers for Dewey’s first Read-A-Thon meme-y thing of the day.

Where are you reading from today?

Today finds me in lovely Halifax, Nova Scotia – well everyday really, unless the gods are smiling and I am vacationing, hopefully in a warmer climate.

3 facts about me …

1 – If you couldn’t tell from above, I really don’t like getting up early, I prefer for the sun to be shining really high in the sky before venturing out of bed.

2 – I love living in Atlantic Canada, but at this time of year I think myself an idiot for having hardwood floors – it’s freezing, my toes anticipate the cold touch of the floor.

3 – Early mornings mean that I am a very snarky person, not in a mean-hearted way, but more in the way that I will complain about anything (I blame this on the happy little birds chirping outside my window)

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?

Rather than dealing with one TBR pile, I organized myself a few stacks of categorically chosen piles (categorically – is that even a word?) Anyway I figured that with some different types of books I would be able to quickly grab what appealed to me.

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?

Durrrr … no I have no goals, reading throughout the day, enjoying what I read, following other bloggers posts and trying to stay awake in the wee hours – that’s what I am concentrating on for the Read-A-Thon.

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time?

Nope I’m a newbie, but I found that having my MP3 loaded with a book and waiting beside my bed meant that I could avoid both the cold air and those gleeful birdsongs while still taking part in the Read-A-Thon :)

The MP3 player loaded with a cook is indeed an excellent idea! Happy reading, Joanne!

I'm not a morning person either. I woke up early today to see how everyone is doing. Now I'm like a waking zombie.

Hi! The Readathon started at 2 pm my time so I didn't need to wake up early this morning...

I hope you're having fun reading!

Goodmorning! Ugh. I am snarky in the morning too. I waited until I had my morning coffee and rituals done before I could even post. You seem cheerful in comparision. :D I hope you have fun today.

I'm not able to do the readathon today but I love the mp3 player idea, I will have to remember that if I manage to join in on the next one. Happy reading!

I'm also not a morning person. I had to be up at 8 am. On my days of sleeping in. Sigh! I'm making progress at least. One book down...many two go.

Good luck reading today Joanne. It's pretty cold here in Alberta already-socks, slippers, and fleecy coats. I like to get up early but I don't like anyone to talk to me for at least a few hours and sometimes not even then. lol.
