So now I'm praying for the end of time…

So I’ve seen this meme around and love seeing everyone’s responses. Jill over at Fizzy Thoughts even made hers into a contest – and since I won a book from her Book Closet I figured I’d go ahead and answer this meme too. It has nothing to do with the fact that I’m avoiding doing ‘real’ blogging – meh February’s been a very off-topic month for me so I may as well go with it   (^_^)

What are your middle names?
My parents chose the name Elizabeth because they liked the way it sounded after Joanne – come to find out nearly every female on my dad’s side has some form of the name Mary Elizabeth. Hubs got Joseph, coming from a line of John Josephs.

How long have you been together?
Around 12 years.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We met about a year and a half before dating and we absolutely hated one another. Seriously at times it looked as though we were gonna get into an all-out, no-holds-barred rumble.

Who asked whom out?
Coming to his senses and realizing what a splendidly awesome person I was (kidding) he asked me out.

How old are each of you?
He’s 32 and I am 30, although any mention of our ages gets us both counting backwards and trying to prove the other wrong. It’s easier to just say I was born in June ‘78 and him in October ‘75

Whose siblings do you see the most?
That would be his, I’m an only child.

Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
None really, we seem to be able to work most things out. But referring back to the time we hated one another there was an incident involving his truck, his truck that he loved more than anything in the world, a set of keys and me – but we don’t speak of this ;)

Did you go to the same school?
We went to the same Jr and Sr High schools, but never at the same time.

Are you from the same home town?
Yup, our parents lived within 2 minutes walk of one another.

Who is smarter?
We would both agree that he has the number smarts and I have the word smarts, so we are equal.

Who is the most sensitive?
Definitely him. He loves sappy movies and I despise them. He is much more in tune with his emotions, whereas I am more likely to hide them. I seem pretty cold-hearted and distant at times, but he helps me be more open.

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
No particular place. We enjoy lots of different restaurants and we both love Chinese take-out.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
We spent a couple weeks on a road trip – Nova Scotia – New Brunswick – Quebec – Maine – Massachusetts – Rhode Island – New York – New Jersey and back to Nova Scotia. It was fun and since we’d never been past Maine we spent a lot of time exploring old back roads, getting lost, getting stuck in Boston (it was during the Big Dig), sight-seeing and shopping. I honestly didn’t think my poor little Honda Civic would make it back to Canada considering the immense weight of booze and books in the hatchback :P

Who has the craziest exes?
Me.

Who has the worst temper?
We both have terrible tempers although when he gets mad he goes for walks to blow off steam, whereas I launch an assault equal to a World War.

Who does the cooking?
He does, but that’s because he’s a genius for whipping up pasta dishes. Seriously he just grabs a bunch of ingredients and sees what happens. He’s also amazing with the barbeque, a fat juicy steak and a whole rack of spices and sauces.

Who is the neat-freak?
We’re both slobs, happy to clutter up the place. We try to keep the house as neat as possible, but with 2 teenage boys that’s a pretty tough job. About once a week, I get hit by temporary insanity and completely clean/organize everything.

Who is more stubborn?
That’s a toughie. He is very stubborn and set in his ways about how things should be done, but I am very stubborn in terms of when I want something I want it yesterday. So I guess it’s pretty even.

Who hogs the bed?
That is most definitely him. See what happens is that he climbs into our KING-SIZE bed and stretches his 6’2” body diagonally across the bed. Then Suki the Lhasa Apso flops in the upper corner spread-eagled. After that a fight usually breaks out between me and Raimi the Border Collie to see who gets to claim the other corner. It’s an epic battle that usually ends up with the dogs and I fighting while the hubs lies there snoring *rolls eyes*

Who wakes up earlier?
He has to be at work for 6am. If by chance I don’t get woken or pushed out of bed I get to sleep until 7:30am.

Where was your first date?
Since most of our previous encounters were not pretty, we played it safe and went for coffee and a movie.

Who is more jealous?
Hmm I’d say we are both about the same – but jealousy isn’t much of an issue for us anymore.

How long did it take to get serious?
We went from sworn enemies to inseparable couple in a matter of days.

Who eats more?
Our eating schedules are pretty different. He tends to be a well-rounded meal time person, while I usually have a small snack in the daytime and then eat a big dinner (supper).

Who does the laundry?
That’s mostly me, because I’m a bit OCD about sorting colours, types and such. When he does the laundry everything goes in together and that freaks me out.

Who’s better with the computer?
That would be me. He is a two finger typer, but his html has been getting better – he knows how to change the fonts and make spoiler tags now.

Who drives when you are together?
Now that he bought a new car, it’s him driving when we go out together. Plus he thinks my driving is too fast and too aggressive.

And in case you didn’t get the title of this post – it’s from Meatloaf’s epic love song Paradise By The Dashboard Light! Yup that’s my idea of a love song (^_~)

favorite song of all time! We traditionally sing it at the June staff party, with boys and girls screaming their lines respectively.

great meme, you sound like a great couple.

I had the same issue with February...I guess it was too short to find the time to be serious.

Hey, did you get my email about Ex Libris (that I'm an idit and don't have it anymore)?

lol. Great post title! That's about my idea of a love song, too. :)

The guy I have been seeing for just over a year now... I thought very horrible things about him for a very long time before we started seeing each other. It all stemmed from a bar and him saying something that I didn't take very well! On our first date I 'politely' explained why I went from being polite to him to pretty much avoiding him. It's funny how those things work.

ACK! That song. OMG, that song!!

All right. There is a story behind it. I used to like this song. Seriously. I always thought it was cool. Until 6 months ago, I started waiting tables in a Microbrewery. It's an awesome place. Great beer and even better food. But they play music. I hear this song, seriously 3 times a night. 5 days a week. I just want to kill someone every time it comes on.

Then....I finally think I'm safe...and here it is again!!
