TSS: Weird, Wonderful, WTF?!

No words can express my love of Where The Wild Things Are

Most of those As Seen On TV products are usually not so hot, but the wonderfulness of the ShamWow is really unbelievable! These things really work, and with 2 teenagers, 2 dogs, 1 senile kitty and a man who leaves dishes everywhere(!) I’m always dealing with spills. But look at what I came across at The Smoking Gun (I’m dealing with an addiction to this site atm)

ShamWow Guy In Slap, Chop Bust
TV pitchman battered hooker in South Beach hotel room brawl

Apparently he paid for this woman’s services and things were going fine until she bit Vince’s tongue and wouldn’t let go. So he started hitting her to get free. And he’s charged with assault! I’m pretty sure if someone bit me, I’d be beating the hell out of them too. Especially if I’d paid ahead of time :P

Twitter: It’s the new rage and I myself am pretty addicted. Some users only post random thoughts or goings-ons but others use it kinda like a giant chat-room. Both are useful in my opinion and I guess your enjoyment of the Twitterverse depends on what you personally want from the experience.

This morning I was reading an article entitled “Ego Tweeto, Ergo Sum” in the Globe and Mail, and it  brought up some thought-provoking questions about why people tweet such as a desire to feel a part of a community, a technological ADD or the more philosophical theory which I was really struck by – a fear not existing.

By using Twitter to let the world know what we are doing are we really just screaming out at the universe “@Universe Hey I just tied my shoelace! And if I just tied my shoe, then surely I do exist! Because without me that shoelace would still be da - Whoops gotta rememver that 140 character limit - cont. @Universe ..ngling there loose and my shoe would serve no purpose and then maybe it might all just be a figment of my imagination. Or maybe not, maybe I’m just letting my mind having a bit of fun :)

You can read the full article here:

And my latest rant: how do you feel about the new Facebook design and/or Facebook in general? It’s been a few weeks now since the new look was implemented, and I gave myself that long to decide – I really don’t like it. Actually, I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that Facebook has lost a lot of it’s appeal. Sure it’s great for connecting with other people, but what gets me is that there are people I knew well, knew in passing or might remember slightly that send friend requests. That’s awesome for friends I’ve lost touch with but why on earth would I want to re-connect with people I didn’t get along with even when I knew them? I’ve gotten requests from people I’ve never spoken to, men from other countries who want to learn better English and lately spammers! Oh the spammers! Which is not a surprise considering how filled with flashy ads, pay for use applications and other crappy garbage is on the site. So that’s my rant, if I know you, talk to you, blog/tweet/email/IM with you, am related to you, whatever – sure send me a friend request. But – if you sat three rows over from me in jr. high math for 2 weeks and we never shared a single conversation – ask yourself if being connected on Facebook is anything more than you wanting a ginormous friends list to show off! Kthnxzbai!

The trailer actually made me tear up. I can't wait for the movie <3

Twitter is fun, and I'm sure people use it for all sorts of reasons. I enjoyed the article, but part of me wonders if there isn't a tendency to overanalyse anything internet-related, which goes along with the suspicion with which new forms of communication are still regarded.

I don't use Facebook, but everyone I know has been complaining about the changes. One more reason for me not to use it :P

I just today found out about that movie! I was looking up for what Catherine Keener is up to. I also heard REO Speedwagon's song Take it On the Run twice within minutes - 2 diff radio stations. not that that has anything to do with anything. I don't mind the new FB cuz I only just joined and couldn't tell you what has changed. Altho I am with you on why I need to befriends with people I'm not sure I even know. Ugh, high school...
I don't twitter. I refuse to twit. sigh.

I'm so in love with the trailer! I haven't stopped watching it..I've seen it over and over again. It's just perfect paired with that Arcade Fire song.

The shamwow guy looks like he's wearing a hospital johnny.

Twitter is awesome. So much fun.

The new Facebook layout doesn't bother me and I can't quite get why some of my friends are in such a lather about it. *shrugs*

Nymeth, it made me tear up, too! Thanks for sharing this with us. I hadn't seen it!

I'm so with you on the Facebook change and the whole friends thing. After only a couple of weeks, I've pretty much abandoned it. Twitter though...that makes the workday bearable.

Well, I am a real newbie on Twitter, so the jury is still out on what I really think about it. I HATE the new Facebook, though. I have never really liked facebook that much, anyway, though. I usually only go on once a week unless I get an email and go to see what it is about.

I'm addicted to Twitter, too. I think I use it like a giant chat room - it's nice to get feedback quickly. So far, I've resisted Facebook and your post convinced me to continue to do so.

Where the Wild Things Are looks incredible. I'm really looking forward to it.
I don't twitter, and while I have a Facebook page, it's been so long since I logged in that not only have I forgotten my password, but I had no idea the layout had changed. :)

You are just too awesome for words!! I love the Facebook rant!!

I'm a newbie to Twitter too. I can see how it gets addictive. I spent the first few days just tweeting away. But I know I will never have time for all that.

Where the Wild Things Are is one of my favorite books. My son loved it as a little one, and I can not wait for the movie!!

As for Facebook, I don't really like the new changes...but I haven't really been on there all that long. Funny thing is, the last week, I have totally reconnected with some of my high school buddies. Understand, I went to a tiny high school...only 75 total (all 4 year combined) my Senior year. So, we ALL new each other pretty well. We grew up together. I did a big disappearing act after college (long story behind it..I won't bore you with it). But it has been really great to chat with everyone again. I've found that I actually miss them!

I can't wait to see that film! My husband said "wow, what a great time to be a kid" referring to all the great kids' fantasy books made into awesome films lately.

I don't really like Facebook. My husb convinced me to sign up and for a few months I was over there quite a bit, but I got annoyed by all the "friends" requests from people I don't even know, much less those I only vaguely recall from highschool and so really have no idea who they are, do they remember me? Who ARE you? So far I'm keeping apart from Twitter- blogging alone takes up too much of my time! And it's getting sunny! I need to be outside.

I think Facebook went downhill the day they let the kiddies on. It used to be college-only (or older). But with the original profile layout, you ended up with ridiculously crowded pages full of every application imaginable. I like how streamlined the new layout is.

I actually haven't gotten that many weird friend requests. But there was one guy who went to another college near the one I was attending. At first I ignored him because I had no idea who he was and it said we 0 friends in common. Then he friended me again and included a message telling me I was beautiful. I looked at his profile and he had 1200 friends and his Wall was full of messages like "Do I know you?" I ignored him again and ended up blocking him after a third attempt.

About the ShamWow guy. . . All I can say is, I am really sick of the guy with the beard who's always yelling. It was kind of refreshing to see a new face, even if he was kind of creepy.

I'm also excited about Where the Wild Things Are. A friend of mine just had a baby named Max, so of course I gave her the book for a baby gift. Luckily they didn't have a copy yet. :)

You know what surprised me the most about the ShamWow guy? He's 44! I had no idea. He is a bit creepy...

I have tons of Facebook friends that I rarely talked to. Whenever someone I knew in high school friends me (and it's happened more frequently, now that our reunion is coming up and we actually have a Facebook event page for it), I get excited and say hi. But they never reply! Why friend someone if you're not going to talk to them?

I dont like the new Facebook, but i'm pretty addicted.

I admit--I'm a sucker for infomercials. And the Shamwow one is pretty darn funny. I second the comment about the bearded, yelling guy being really annoying. Oxyclean needs a new sponsor desperately.

I JUST started using FB and I don't like the new layout. I don't find it user friendly, so I admit I don't get on very often anymore. I feel like I need to join Twitter, but I'm going to resist just a little bit longer.
