Weekly Geeks 2009-09 Quotable Part 3

For my third instalment of geeky book to film quotes I’ve chosen my very favourite children’s book to be adapted for the big screen – Alice In Wonderland!  And it will focus on one of the best parts from both the movie and book. Can you tell yet that my taste in movies and books is across the board genre wise? So far I’ve had quotes from a twisted/comedy-noir/slasher/social-satire and a socio-political/dystopian/sci-fi/thriller.

‘But I don't want to go among mad people,’ Alice remarked. ‘Oh, you can't help that,’ said the Cat: ‘We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.’ ‘How do you know I'm mad?’ said Alice. ‘You must be,’ said the Cat, ‘otherwise you wouldn't have come here.’

Alice didn't think that proved it at all: however she went on. ‘And how do you know that you're mad?’ ‘To begin with,’ said the Cat, ‘a dog's not mad. You grant that?’ ‘I suppose so," said Alice. ‘Well, then,’ the Cat went on, ‘you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad.’

‘Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin,’ thought Alice; ‘but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!’
