This week’s Tuesday Thingers courtesy of Wendi’s Book Corner!
I know we have looked at the widgets section on Library Thing before, but it appears that Library Thing has added an all-new widget building page, with more options than ever, including the ability to customize your widget, chose colors, animate your books so they change every 5, 10, 15, etc seconds, add your Amazon Associates ID, have your widget show a portion of your review and/or your rating, and much more!!
You can visit the LT blog to learn even more with their Widgets Get a Lot Better post!! OR . . . you can run over and play with your widget now by going here!!Questions: Do you have a LT widget on your blog? If so, what is your favorite thing about it? Have you had a chance to go see the all new widget building page, and if so, have you built a new widget? If so, what do you like about it?
Great question! But how much of a doofus does it make me that I actually had to look at my blog to see if I had a LibraryThing Widget? ( O.o ) And I discovered that I don’t, I used to have one but it must have gotten left out when I changed my blog template a few months back. I hadn’t really noticed it missing, I guess because I use Amazon.com for making my widgets.
This morning I played around with the new, improved LibraryThing widgets, and I’m pretty impressed with the new features. Anything that allows customization is a big thing for me. What I ended up with is a pretty cool looking random display widget of my books and I was soo happy to see that there was a size option that allows you to make your widget “fill the space” – because I had wanted something to put at the very bottom of my blog and this stretches across nicely. This new widget will become a permanent part of my blog design, as long as it doesn’t cause any loading drag.
So what about you? Have you tried out the new widgets at LibraryThing? Head over to Wendi’s Book Corner and share your thoughts :)

I have been resisting the library thing widgets so far... they're great, and from what you say they sound like they got even better.. but... like a lot of bloggers (I think) I'm always trying to keep down the number of widgets on my page.. I might break down and get this one though!
That looks cool. I don't care for too many widgets on the page, but I've always kept my LT one up, and I'm off to redesign it now! Thanks for posting about it.
I constantly forget to do widgets when I so a new theme. My stats are a mess for this very reason.
I still have to explore the new widget. Not quite enough time yet.
Your new widget looks great along the bottom like that.
Huh. That's all I gotta say. I don't do LT and I'm not gonna! hope that's ok, glad you are so excited, tho. I do like your book display widget-thing if that's what it's called at the bottom - it's a long way down.
it looks very nice. they say it is programmed in such a way that it will not slow down your blog any and I can only assume they are telling the truth.
I do love that they now offer so many, many options and customizations.
the new ones really mesmerizing, eh?
I think I have a LT account that I created when it first came out but I don't use it. I use Shelfari and Amazon.com widgets.
I like that there are new options, and I'm sure I will check this out eventually, but for now I'm happy with my goodreads widget. When I first started my blog I wanted a ton of images and widgets, but I've since simplified, so I'm not too sure about adding another widget. If I like the new LT widgets though I may consider replacing the goodreads one.
Joanne, I just discovered that Thingers was picked up again by reading your blog. I did the same thing and went to check out the new widgets. They took too long to load on my blog though.
Oooh - I like that you put it at the bottom!
The new widgets are AWESOME!! :-)
BTW, I have given you an award. You can pick it up here.
the widgets are fun :)

Oh I LOVE your widget at the bottom - I might need to rethink mine and do that. I also love your award widget - how did you do that? What a great idea!!
Thanks for stopping by and participating in Thingers last week! I've got the post up for this week, have you re-styled Your Library lately? ~ Wendi
