Compile your list of favourites. Please be sure that books you choose actually were published in 2008, or at the very earliest in the winter holiday season of 2007. Sometimes books that come out then are left out.
If you happen to see any non-WG bloggers making similar lists, please grab the url and come put it in Mr Linky for them. Let them know you’re doing that, please, in case they have some sort of objection; if they do, they can ask me to remove their link. I’ve already seen a couple favorites of 2008 posts, which is another reason I wanted to get started early.
Feel free to make changes to your list if you read something new in the next few weeks. After about October 25, I can’t guarantee your changes will be reflected in the master list. We’ll probably start compiling lists around then.
My list of favourites for 2008 is pretty small, as I did not read too many new released this year. But here are the four I believe are the best of what I’ve read:
by Andrew Davidson
by Raymond L. Atkins
by Steve Zipp
by Garth Stein
My reviews for the first three can be found by clicking on the book covers.

See, this is what I am afraid of. All of the books you have listed are on my TBR list(two are waiting on my shelf now) and I just know I will wish I had added some to my favorites.
I haven't read any of those, but my wish list is expanding ...
I am hoping to read The Gargoyle soon, so maybe that will make it onto my list for 2008.
Front Porch Prophet sounds like a hoot.
I really enjoyed the Gargoyle. Marg - definitely read this!
Great list! I've added The Gargoyle and Art of Racin in the Rain to my wishlist. They both sound fantastic!
Art of Racin in the Rain is going on my wish list/tbr pile for next year--a list that is growing longer by the week!!

I did not list Yellow Knife as I assumed it is published in 2007. I will go and check and add it! I loved the book. Thanks!
Do check my short list
Hey Joanne - I hope you are safe and sound re: the hurricane headed toward N.S. Sending good thoughts your way!
Thanks Terri - Luckily we are in the area of NS that only got some heavy winds, the media/news seemed to exaggerate the force of this storm because it is the anniversary of Juan - which really walloped us.
Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful comments, I am enjoying looking through all your lists! But my wishlist is growing out of control :)
THis is my first to see The Front Porch Prophet (I think) and I know I've read a few good revs of The Art of Racing in the Rain. Love the dog on the cover, too.
Ooh I haven't read any of these but high on my list is The Gargoyle. I keep hearing such good things about that one.
Great list, I've heard good things about The Gargoyle.

I sooo want to read The Gargoyle--if for no other reason than the cover is awesome! Shallow of me? Sure. Fun? Yesss!
I really need to give Gargoyle another try and I've got The Front Porch Prophet on the list.
Okay, so I'm helping Dewey put together the massive list for the Top 10 of 2008, but I'm having trouble finding the info for the Yellowknife on Amazon. Can you send me the info on this? Namely which genre it is?
