Tuesday Thingers – Recently Added

tuesday thingers This week's question: LibraryThing's Recently Added feature: do you look at it? Do you use it for ideas? Is there something listed there now that looks interesting to you? What have you added to your LT library recently?

The Recently Added feature is probably one of the things I pay the most attention to on the main page. I like the way that you are given just a few books to look at every time you see this page. For some reason, with the other larger lists around the site, I find myself overwhelmed and moving on. But with this feature it’s like reading the books feature in a magazine – quick and helpful.

I find it very interesting and I have added books to my wishlist after seeing them on the Recently Added gadget. LibraryThing is being difficult at the moment and giving me a loading error so I cannot find the specific titles that I noticed just this morning *grrr*

But I do know which books I have most recently added. Being a organizing freak about books I also keep a spreadsheet (because you never know when the apocalypse will hit, cutting off thesmile_eyeroll internet access and leaving you without a booklist for those bookshop looting sprees)

abarat

arsenic soup for lovers

generation dead

informers

water for elephants

I obviously don't use the feature very well, because all I've ever noticed are the books I've added.

I am also a bit confused as to what this is really referring to - on my homepage, I only see my covers.

PS - I really want Generation Dead and the sequel - Kiss of Life!

I use a spreadsheet too, but not for cataloguing. I use it to track books I've requested, sort ARCs by release date (for reviewing), etc. It's saved me more than once when a book came in the mail and I thought "where did this come from"!

Good point about the apocalypse :P I should keep a spreadsheet too. I'd hate to lose my list of books.

I've been meaning to read Abarat for years! I look forward to your thoughts on it.

I keep a spreadsheet too. And I color code the ones that are urgent with RED!! There is a lot of red in my spreadsheet right now...

Ha ha, in case of apocalypse, the power will be out and you won't be able to access your spreadsheet. My own plan is to hit the bookstore when everyone else is at the grocery store looking for bottled water and duct tape, throw all the books I can grab into my car as fast as I can, drive home, and raid my neighbors' houses for food and water before they get home from killing each other at the grocery store.

Yes, I know what you mean about fearing the apocalypse. Our internet service was down nearly all day yesterday, and I'm just now getting over all my withdrawal symptoms! But at least it gave me extra reading time.

I'm old-fashioned. I have an indexed notebook that I keep forgetting to take to the library with me :)
Just to let you know, I've nominated you for an "I *heart* your blog" award
