TSS: Off With Her Head … Please?

A couple of weeks ago, I asked all of you to help me out by asking questions about some of the books I need to get reviewed. Thanks to everyone, I will be answering all of them sometime this week. Also within the comments I was graced with a visit from a mysterious member of the Book Blog Review Completion Committee who has given me permission to forego 4 of the 20 books to be reviewed! Along with this and the suggestion from Dawn and Ali to do mini-reviews of some books, I will be blogging about books this week in a way that I like to think of as ‘short but sweet’.

Something that’s been on my mind this past week, is the feeling of unease that I get when I let my blogging and blog browsing/commenting slow down. These past two months I’ve not been keeping up with my online stuff as much as I’d like. I’m still reading everything in my Google Reader but not commenting as much as I’d like. At first it was making me feel crappy, but I’ve now decided that there’s really no reason to. All of us have lives outside the blogging life, and sometimes things happen and the online life must suffer as we deal with stuff IRL (geeze I hate that phrase ‘IRL’ – makes it sound as though our online/blogging lives aren’t just as much a part of who we are) Anyway, I guess I just wanted to say that even though I may not be commenting as much, I am indeed still following.

Awards! Yay! It stills makes me feel completely amazed when someone feels my blog is worthy of an award. I’ve received a couple that I haven’t given thanks for yet.

First I’d like to say thank you so much to Mari of MariReads for passing along the Proximidade award to me. I really appreciate the gesture and I apologize for being an entire month late in saying so :)

"This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!”

Also, I received the Sisterhood award from Mo of UnMainstream Mom Reads. I was so happy when I saw this, it means so much to me. Mo is fantastically awesome, we share a lot of the same opinions book-wise, she is helpful and caring and super fun. And I can always count on her honest opinion. Mo is definitely a treasured bloggy friend and sister! Thanks so much Mo :)

And last, but certainly not least, this is the coolest new award on the block – the Zombie Chicken Award! Woohoo, thanks so much to Chris of Book-A-Rama for passing this wicked award on to me. The rules state: The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all...

Normally I pass awards on right away, but with so many fabulous bloggers out there it’s getting hard to just choose a few. So this one time I’m going to cop out. I’m also going to risk the wrath of the zombie chickens … and besides a zombie chicken apocalypse would be sweet :P

And now I’m going to try and get through my overflowing Google Reader and enjoy some more of The Tudors Season 2. The newest third season begins tonight! Cannot wait! But does it make me a bad person that I also cannot wait for Anne Boleyn to lose her head? God she’s driving me mad, I find her to be such a whiny bitch!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Definitely don't feel bad about not commenting as much. We all understand, and we love you anyway.

Enjoy The Tudors :D

I just culled my reader and spent several hours commenting this weekend. There's no way I can keep up with that pace, but it's nice to indulge every now and again.

I also hate the phrase IRL but use it all the time!

Enjoy The Tudors. :)

Off with her head indeed!! I love the Tudors, but I agree...she needs her head chopped off :p

Don't feel bad about the not commenting. I've been doing that a lot lately too :/ I'm trying to make up for it today though!!

We all have to figure out how to balance our lives - you need to do what feels right for you. Congratulations on all of your awards.

I haven't been commenting much either. I get frustrated when there are a ton of things in Google Reader, so I'll just go through and read everything in a big swoop, but then I forget to comment. School is being nutty as of late too, so I think I have that excuse :)

Good luck with the mini reviews!

Sometimes when I am struggling with comments, I make a decision to comment a certain number of times (say for example 5 comments per day or something like that). That way I don't feel so bad about not commenting, but still manage to be visible in the community.

I like the idea of mini reviews. It's especially nice when you find yourself behind.

I do know what you mean about getting behind on blogging and blog visiting. I haven't been able to keep up the way I like the last couple of months either. Like you, I felt bad at first, but I soon realized that it really is okay. Most people are understanding about the fact that we all get busy and can't always juggle everything we may want to.

Congratulations on all the awards!

I hope you have a great week!

It's really hard keeping up with comments I've been finding too. I try to spend the time reading and commenting on other blogs and then I don't get to the comments I get. And yes it's hard, there's a life outside of the blogging too. Somewhere there has to be a balance. I'm trying not to worry about it. If people like my blog they'll read it I hope even if I don't get to commenting on theirs all the time.

Congrats on the awards! I love that Zombie Chicken one. :)

Comment when you can and don't worry about the rest. I have huge guilt over commenting for no good reason and I'm trying to be better about my guilt. Instead I had to realize that *something* needs to give and I'm not commenting on all of the daily memes anymore. There are so many of them nowadays!!

Catching up with reviews really can be a pain lol. Congrats on your awards!!! My Google Reader isn't very happy with the little unplanned vacation I took. I had 450 something when I got back but now I'm down to 216, yay! Enjoy your show :)
